Description
Screen legend Burt Lancaster (The Train, Elmer Gantry) stars as Jim Slade, a former Chicago policeman who has just been released from prison for shooting his wife’s lover. He’s offered and takes a task as a campus night watchman at Jordon School. When a coed, the daughter of a prominent senator, is murdered and the local sheriff (Harris Yulin, Scarface) tries to pin the crime on a creepy night janitor (Charles Tyner, The Longest Yard), Slade comes to a decision to begin his own unauthorized investigation that takes the lid off the hornets’ nest. Lancaster and Roland Kibbee (Valdez Is Coming) co-wrote, co-produced and co-directed this best-notch murder mystery with an ideal cast that comes with Susan Clark (Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here), Cameron Mitchell (Blood and Black Lace), Morgan Woodward (Cool Hand Luke), Robert Quarry (Madhouse), Ed Lauter (Breakheart Pass), Joan Lorring (The Verdict) and Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke of TV’s The Dukes of Hazzard). The second one and ultimate film directed by Lancaster (The Kentuckian).
