Description
Cluny Brown is a 1946 film that was directed and produced by Ernst Lubitsch. The film stars Charles Boyer and Jennifer Jones and is a satire on the smugness of British high society. It is the last film Lubitsch completed. A plumber’s niece (Jennifer Jones) and a refugee (Charles Boyer) meet in England prior to World War II. Cluny Brown (Jennifer Jones) is a free spirit, who lives in the moment. She has a difficult time not being able to be herself, until she meets Adam Belinski (Charles Boyer) who finds her spontaneity refreshing. She has a fascination with plumbing and pipes which get her into trouble, as it is not lady like, and her uncle decides to send her into domestic service. From there things get even more fun. The film also stars Peter Lawford and Una O’Connor.
